Hi guys,
As I have now blanked off the EGR and the vacuum pipe is no longer needed is the large plastic accumulator still required or can I do away with it and just have the vacuum pipe straight down to the turbo control solenoid.
Just wondered as it now only needs the one vacuum supply ?

i would think so

methinks it's more of a dampening chamber
i.e. the vacuum pump probably emits pulses ..
and if it were connected without that chamber direct to the turbo solenoid
then it might cause the turbo vanes to flutter .. don't reckon that would be beneficial

anyhowz .. that's my theory

and .. consider the energy needed to operate the turbo vanes that are being effected by the exhaust gas flow force ..
the relatively narrow hose diameter by itself would contain less potential energy .. than a larger volume container
.. same goes for the brake servo .. it looks to be of a much higher volume than the connecting hose ..

the egr servo by contrast .. wouldn't need so much energy to move the valve mechanism ..
