hi all,im sure its probably come up at somepoint in the past and i have looked for a thread but i cant find one on here so im just gonna ask,i have a 1978 series 3 truck cab 88inch and the seats are pretty worn out,so i have a choice i can ither just put standards back in or i found some seats that use the origonal mountings ,and are the same dulux black vinyle, but they are high back, but with a cab will they fit ? if anyone has tried or done this help and advice will be much appriciated as i cant find anyone thats done it with the origonal type fixings!

hi ive just ordered some high back delux seats for my series after fitting my truck cab this weekend i hope they will fit ok will let you no if i hit any snags

thanks for the info i think ill just order them then , i mean i had people say they dont but they fit in a defedner ok so do see anyreason why they wont in a series 3 truck ,but i do know there is a diiference to the defender to the series cabs! :)

The rear window is a different shape and so is the windscreen surround where it meets the front of the roof, they are the same size inside though. I had hi-back seats in a series 3 of mine and they were quite comfortable. I sold the driver/passenger ones a while back when I broke the vehicle but may have the middle one still if you are interested?

hi just put seats in took photos on phone so cant seem to get them on here but yes they do fit ,if your on whatsapp could forward them to you or face book lol

cheers for the reply mate,i havent ordered mine yet but will get round to doing it,and your's is a truck cab yes? coz i was told they wont fit,and how is the driving position?

cheers for the reply mate :)

yes it is a truck cab and they fit fine the sittin position if your tall may be a bit high iam six 1"and i fit in ok

thats fine then becuase im 6ft so ill b okay, but is it more up rite the position or is it basicly the same, becuase the position of the standard seats is quite nice!! :D

but thanks for the reply!

yes i think they are more upright i have put a bit of pipe lagging on the back of headrest because it touches the window send me your email and i will send you my photos of them if you want.they are a bit more stiffer if you now i mean but my others were 35 yrs old and well worn

I have seats from a mk4 escort in mine and they fit in good.
Only thing is because the backs of the seats are quite deep they sit further forward making the driving position nearer the steering wheel, but because there higher than standard ones i fit in ok (i'm also 6 foot tall) and its comfy enough for long journeys.

Here's a few pics

oh okay fair enough, well the one's i have are okay, but they are worn,so i will have a look about at some other options! but thanks for the info and pic's!

:D

I originally had some old Nissan Micra seats (first photo) in my 88" and whilst fine (considering space is very limited in the front of an 88) I have since fitted some Exmoor Trim high back seats which are fantasically comfy, and as you can see from the second photo they sit really flush with the rear bulkhead so give loads of room just like the old Swab type seats but with much more support
