The fabric on my headliner in my truck cab is now resting on my head.

I want to carry it to the upulstry man to get it re-done.

How hard is it to come out?

Thanks.

Not hard at all - carefully remove plastic 'fir tree' clips (use flat blunt screwdriver) - most will snap off but cheap to replace. Unscrew sun visors and carefully disconnect interior light if one is fitted

OR - poke about and "feel" for the two spars in the roof behind the lining, then drill though the lining into the spars and pop in two of the "fir tree" fasteners - no more saggy bits.

I took mine down for same reason and because it was filthy, a few minutes under a hot shower and a nice stiff brush (horse grooming brush) brought it up a treat, which is when I discovered there are two spars in the roof behind the lining, haven't got around to fixing it yet because I'm considering building a roof cubby box and that would support it anyway............Something like this......

The one linked at the bottom of the same page looks ok-ish too, I much preferred it's layout, but didn't like the sharp edges and the gap at the rear.

In the back of my mind is the idea to make a rough one up with MDF then round the edges off a bit and use that as a mould, then coat it with fibreglass and lots of coats of paint. Alternative idea is to make MDF as said but simply cover it with leatherette type stuff (or maybe tartan material, yes I'm Scottish, and use same tartan to make new seat covers etc.)

There is a special and simple tool for removing the plastic fasteners (a bit like a staple remover) but as said replacements are cheap so its much better to have a full new set.

I usually use a screwdriver until I have a gap just big enough to get my fingers in behind the lining then give the the whole thing a sharp tug, most of them will come out this way, those that don't get levered out or they break off. As said, they only cost pennies anyway. On Ebay you get a pack of 10 for about £2.
