The wheel offset was changed at some point (around 2001?) from ET36 (i think) to ET45 - so older wheels will not fit a newer freelander (unless you use some spacers to clear the larger brakes).
probably catching on calipers. if I remember about 2000 ish maybe later they fitted larger calipers. also the freelander has a unique pcd etc. plenty of threads on here about which years fit each other.
