At 50-70mph I'm getting wobble. Had the wheels balanced but didn't cure it?

Any ideas?

Make sure the front wheel bearings are not slack. A lot of mechanics do
not understand the correct procedure for setting up these bearings. They
have to be torqued to specific number of lb ft to "seat" the bearing, then
slackened off and then re-tightened to a specified preload measured with
a spring balance. If you do it the conventional way by "touch" they will
work
loose in no time. The correct procedure is documented in the Chilton (Isuzu)
and Haynes (Frontera) manuals.

I've had wheel wobble three times in the last 30 years and each time it's
been due to tyre damage - not to wheels being out of balance nor to slack
wheel bearings or any of the other problems that can supposedly cause wheel
wobble.

Try jacking each wheel up in turn, spin it as fast as you reasonably can by
hand (or get someone to do it for you) whilst you closely observe the tread.
If it isn't completely true & meanders a little from side to side then
you've probably found the cause.

If you cannot see anything obvious, you could swap each wheel in turn for
the spare - and see what happens. If the wobble disappears then have a much
closer look at the wheel you've just taken off.

Might be Track Rod problems. How is it on breaking ?
