Just changed the transfer case in my 90 over to a secondhand one out of a disco. Straight swap with no probs. The difference is amazing! Drives like a sports carOnly thing ive found is that you really notice the lack of pulling ability at the low end. When in the wood i now frequently have to use the low box rather than high first. But tbh for the short amount of time im in the wood... the compramise is well worth it!

Use the one out of the reconed box - it should just slide on the shaft - make sure they send you a cross drilled input gear as this helps the oil get onto the main box output shaft better and increases life.
Also check the splines on the output shaft - not much you can do if there worn, but just so you know!
So I should receive the input gear with the recon transfer case from Ashcrofts?
Is the input gear part of the transfer case, gearbox or is it between the two?
Does anybody know on what page the input gear is discussed in the workshop manual because I've read the sections on both the gearbox and transfer case and can't find any mention of it?
