On the CSK, some arse clown has previously tried to force the hi-lo shift lever and snapped the bracket that holds it (replacement bracket £66+ VAT).

I'm assuming that the transfer box is stuck in hi, hence why it's been snapped.

My options are:
1. Get a replacemnt box from a breakers - will be used and therefor condition unknown
2. Get an exchange box already overhauled.
3. Overhaul it myself
(4. temp Saint V8 or another very capable person with twix's, mars bars, beer and porn to lend his very able hands in helping with a rebuild)

Anyone have any thoughts ??

You've tested it really is jammed? If I had the money I'd be ringing Ashcrofts!

nope cant test it as the bracket is busted. i'm assuming that it's been busted from someone trying to force it

Hard to see what it locks into (especially through my beer goggles) have you not got it in pieces so you can wedge something else in there?

To be honest. the bracket doesnt bother me. It's a bracket, it'll be replaced... its the transfer case jammed in High that i am thinking about

Well that's sorted then.. no special tools ?

I coated in release oil today and tapped the actuator with a rubber mallt and got about 4mm of movement.. maybe before pulling it i'll leave it having a good soak over the weekend and see how it fairs then. i may still elect to give it a strip down and rebuild seeing as it's a CSK. i dont want to a half arsed job with it
