I've tried the transfer box on my Disco 1 1994 M which has been owned by my Dad since new and I confident that its NEVER been used. It will disengage and definitely goes into neutral and seems to select Low ratio but having driven other vehicles in Low it does not seem to be actually engaging Low! But does engage and drive!
Also when I attempt to engage diff and lock it does not want to go in! I'm reluctant to start applying the "Give it a good hard shove" method cause I know its a ball bag of a job to get it back out and back to high range if it sticks in or snaps the selectors!
Any advice to help me before I get under her and see if its moving the arm underneath and or consider getting iT looked at if it is seized from lack of use!
The only thing I know for certain is that the vehicle was main dealer serviced until 125k and its on 158 now, that said that will have been a good few years ago!
