The transfer box in my 300tdi discovery is jumping into neural from high. If I hold on to the lever I can fell it trying to. If its in low it is fine all the time. The diff lock is free and is disengaged to so its not that.

you need to check its going in fully ,linkage might need adjusting,check lever into t/box doesnt have much play as can be sign of loose grub screw on the shaft , its also possible high gear dog teeth are very worn , you could check by removing sump

Does anyone know if a Range Rover classic transfer box would be the same, its on the LT77 gearbox.

it would fit if you get the front prop with it , the mounts and linkage for high /low ,ratio is the same

both use the same ,yours would fit in to the borg warner box,and if its earlier lt230 fitted to rrc then everything is a straight swap nuts /bolts etc

All is well again for now :-D thanks for the info James, the props appeared to be the same so I left the the 300tdi one on.

if youd fiitted rrc borg warner t/box then front prop needs to be longer ,all lt230s are the same when it comes to fitting

Yer it was a lt230, to be honest its probably done less miles than mine as mine has done 245,000 n counting :-D
