Afternoon Folks,

Am new to this forum and am loooking for some help . I have a 2004 Freelander TD4. This afternoon the Hill Decent , Traction Control light
came on the dash and remained there in Amber.

The rear brake lights dont work either since the lights came on.

I went to the local dealer and the sold me Switch - Stop Light and
Harness below.

I did try to locate where it is situated but could not find it . Can anyone put up some images of where to find this or even a how to fix ?

Is this quite common as i had the fault in 2006 and that was replaced under warranty but i never queried it then.

Lastly will it be ok to drive it 30 miles to the garage for repair in the morning.

Search for 'three amigos' on this site, it is a very common problem. The switch is behind the brake pedal next to the one that works the brake lights if I remember correctly.

Cheers Guys ,

Bought a new Switch with Harness mechanic tried for over an hour to fit but the switch would not turn to lock once fitted :(. He has done many of these but reckons its a dodgy clip.

He then proceeded to go to the back of the garage and pull a switch from a 1999 FreeLandi and Presto worked.

Switch & Harness returned to Stealers for a full refund ;)

I will need to source a new Switch and Harness any recomendations on where i can get one cheaper ?

Has anyone had this problem where the new switch does not fit.

The switch plunger is normally set too long as it comes out of the packet........you need to push it in a little to reduce its length to make it fit else it hits the pedal and won't lock in place.........they are quite tight to adjust but will adjust, by the way if you push it in too far the brake pedal won't activate the switch and you will have to increase the plunger length.

When you fit the switch and press the pedal it will push in to the correct length. You will hear it click several times. If it doesn't do this then yer pushed it in too far already. Let yer Freelander do the adjustment for you. ;)
