Ok, so I'm baffled.

I have been putting the front steering together over the past week or so, and I am having trouble finding the nuts that attach the track rod ends to the swivels.

I ordered NC112041 from LR direct which is a castle nut, but then when I fitted it I realised my track rod ends don't have a hole for the pin!

The ones that came off are M12 with red nyloc and a very very fine thread. But they can be screwed on by hand so are no use as the nyloc is obviously toast.

Any ideas what the nuts are? The track rod ends are the ones with grease nips if that makes a difference.

Can you jut waz some thread lock on them?

Get some new nyloc nuts (i would have thought be pretty easy to get hold of through a local fastener supplier) unless you can drill a hole to put a pin through?

Castle nuts are better for this kind of thing, The only thing to stop the tapered pin rotating as you try to do them up is the friction of the tapered parts, so there's no easy way of holding them still against the friction from the nylon in the nylock nut. It's only when you get them tight that the tapered parts start to grip. Castle nuts have no such problem. Just drill a hole in the pin. We always used to when I was a lad. With an aluminium-bodied 'Wolf' brand drill with fabric covered flex. Wish I knew what had happened to it.

Ive got one of the wolf alloy drills in my garage!
Easy to stop taper rotating, just put a decent bar under the axle and over the track rod and press down hard, this holds the taper in place whilst undoing/doing the nut.

Ah so that's where it is! How I miss its unstoppable 135 watts of power, unequalled when trying to put a Woolworths drill through a 7/16ths bolt.

I actually bought it off a guy at work still in its original case and also came with drill stand to make it a pillar drill

I bought 2 new track rod ends in the end. I got tired of looking!

I'm not sure there is a local fastenings place around here, I think it closed.
