Need some help looking for a Land Rover Defender Discovery for towing I've noticed in 2008 the towing limit went down is there's any particular reason and if there was any particular model or spec anyone would recommend as I need it for heavy towing after new static caravans for work quite a lot

Welcome:)

Please can you let us know which vehicle you are on about
Land Rover Defender Discovery

That’s 2 different models. What figures have you seen and where?

Do a search on here Lots of talk about towing, How heavy is you static?

Welcome!:)
That's what I bought my Discovery 2 TD5 for as well as my Disco 1 300tdi. Neither disappointed.
They are consistently voted "best tow car" and Discos are great for long distance towing. Less comfortable are Defenders, if you can afford them.
Tell us what exactly you are going to be towing and how i.e. just around a site, long distance, country lanes, Mways. whatever?
Best of luck!

Static caravans aren't designed to be towed for any distance. More often just maneuvering. Front bumper mounted tow ball works best, and defender is the easiest one to do that with.
Unlikely that any caravan is going to be over the limit for a 'fender
