Im confused about towbar rules....... :confused::confused:

I have a Nov1998 300tdi. and have been reading up about fitting a tow bar.

I have a ( witter? )type tow bar bought off flea bay, but it has no plates or model numbers or anything on it.

a) should it have ? if so what should it look like?

b) if I fit it , would it fail mot?

c) haven't thought of a 'c' yet

it is a 'late' Nov 1988.

so what is all the curfuffle about re: markings?
 
Sorry it is getting late & me eyesight is fooked. thought5 this was the fender section :eek:

if it's a Private light vehicle with less than 8 seats it has to meet type approval or can't be fitted. so unless it's a commercial discoya can't fit it.

Mine has one of those things fitted and it wasn't even mentioned on it's recent MOT (a failure for other reasons but tow bar not mentioned lol) and by recent I mean last Tuesday.
