Hello there

I have just bought this towbar for my landrover freelander.

This is the towbar i have ordered.
Towbar for Land Rover Freelander 97 TO 06 Complete Kit | eBay
the only problem i have is the electrics doesnt come with the plug in connector to fit in the one fitted in the land rover already.

What i would like to no is can i cut the connector off in the rear boot leaving the wires and then join my towbar electrics by crimping them together.

Hi yes is the answer ;)
The colour codes are on here if you do a search ;)
Oh and introduce yourself in the introduction section.

Don't cut the connector off. It should have a blanking plug on it, this is actually the other end of the connector. All you need to do is buy the little crimp connectors to insert inside it, I got them from RS components for a couple of pounds, and its done properly.

not wanting to hijack this post, but saves opening a new one, where abouts do you find the plug to plug into? left or right side panels, or under floor?
cheers

My socket was not visible when I removed the drivers side rear trim. However, if you have a feelaround inside the holes in the body side, you will feel it. The giveaway was the plastic end of the clip which is attached to the socket-it's one of those that opens out and holds the clip in place, just squeeze the ends together with a pair of pliers and it will pop free. It only protrudes about 5mm and is about 6-8mm dia. natural (Whitish) plastic.
