my 2000 diesel freelander has a dead rear end, as in the tail lights stopped working, rear window does not operate, no rear indicators, and the front headlamps are glowing dull when first click of ignition is operated, the rear window also is not moving down slightly as it should when you open the rear door resulting in it jamming when i close the door, any idea's / where should i look first ?

sounds like a flat battery...

I am assuming that the engine runs? If so then I would check the wiring harness to the tailgate. The harness suffers constant flexing between the body and the tailgate and is prone to failure. The dim headlamp situation you describe sounds like a bad earth.
