Hi there :)

The father of my girlfriend needs a new torque converter. I did read a guide on replacing one ( awesome guide!)

But could you give me a list of all the items he will need? I know he'll need the torque convertor itself ( obviously) but anygaskets/seals etc are needed also?

And where dwould you buy your torque convertor? Can't really seem to find them on the net..

Im used to working at cars ( Owning some classic cars and I have restored a whole car, also did the engine then). But never worked on a 4X4 landrover automatic... ( its not my car)

Car : Discovery 2 TD5 Automatic

Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the quick reply . So no extra gaskets etc?

And where can you buy this part? That the hardest part of it all I think :D ( cant find it online :p )

cheers

Cheapest so far :D
It is ou tof stock though, any idea how quick they restock?

Cheers and thanks for all the answers!

Thats for the HD ones, click back onto torque converters and select the standard one, they're in stock and half the price again ;)

Whats the advantage of a heavy duty one?
Cheers

The Ashcroft HD torque converter (TC) is a much superior device in my opinion.

The std TC allows the revs to go too high before getting any drive. With the HD TC you feel like the gearbox is connected to the engine much better and work as a team. The engine will run at lower evs, promoting better fuel economy and and a less stressful drive.

In addition to which ever TC you decide to install, you should also replace the 'flex plate' as that will have stress fractures in it almost certainly.

So in my opinion you will need 1 of these:

Ashcroft Transmissions

plus 1 of these:

Ashcroft Transmissions

Cheers and good luck, it's a very heavy job to do on your own unless you have a lift and a gearbox trolley.

Thanks mate :)

I have a trolley and an engine hoist at home, so trolly will be the options probably :)

Engine hoist not much use as no hole in transmission tunnel like manuals.
I did mine on my own and it is seriously heavy stuff
