Hi Guys,

My 1989 110 V8 was able to roar along at 90mph without pushing it too much, but it is quite loud!

I assume it will pretty much match your 90 widget, but i dont think i would like to try!

OK - sensible reply now!!

In contemporaneous Autocar tests the 90 and 110 V8 reached best top speed of 85-90 mph in 4th gear.

My trucks been fettled a little bit - larger tyres, 110 V8 transfer box ratio and warmer cam - but should perform as fairly standard IMO.

Top speed on the speedo on the flat (obviously on the German autobahn) was an indicated 102/3 ish in 5th. When looking at the GPS afterwards (and peeling my hands off the sweat-bathed steering wheel) it indicated 89.9 mph.

One day I'll see what it'll do in 4th

My P reg Disco will sit at about 95mph easy, I have had it at 100 and I could feel it would have done more.

Hi my disco done 95 mph easy back from gatwick on return from holiday down the m25/m3 i reckon it will do about 110 mph but would not like to wind the old transmisson up that much,bit noisy though,tiga

i have a 94 defender 90 and ive gotten it up to around 80 or so...i could get it up higher though...80 is around 2800-3000 rpm in 5th

The NAS is goverend to a max speed of 86 mph - in either 4th or 5th gear.

The NAS has has a 1.22:1 ratio transfer box which I agree makes for dreadfully slow progress. I had the same ratios and the performance was hateful, until I swapped for a lower ratio (1.44:1) transfer box. Now instead of pulling 27.5mph/1000 rpm in top it pulls 23.7mph/1000 rpm, it is like drivng a totally different truck - I now seem to always be in the right gear, when before I was always wasn't - if that makes any sense!!.

I have an ex MOD 110 '87 NA 2.5L diesel. Top speed is about 68MPH as stated earlier.
