Hi all, I had my head gasket done september time last year. I had removed all the engine covers etc and had put them in my garage.
On tidying the garage today i decided to refit the covers.
When doing so i noticed the top radiator hose seemed bulged up so gave it a squeeze and it was solid but when i did this i noticed a small spray of water coming out of the hose where the hose clip connects it to the engine.
So obviously i need a new top hose but i am seriously worried that the gasket has failed again.
Is this definitely the case? I have also read on here that it could be a weak hose as its the only one bulging. Why dont any other parts of the pipe bulge or any other pipes? Also read that it could be blocked radiator etc.

Any advice would be much appreciated. I will be taking it back to my local specialist monday anyway to see what he has to say. Which im sure he will deny it being gasket failure. If it is gasket failure would he be obliged to sort it as it was only done in september?

that connection for top hose is very common leak ,most show signs of antifreeze there

Yeah mine was leaking there after i had the gasket done so i put a jubilee clip on to secure it and that sorted it but now the pipes bulging and i believe the split in the pipe is where the clip has been tightened.

Well I would definitely replace the top hose for starters, then I would be very careful about bleeding and refilling the cooling system making sure (as best as you can) that there are no air locks in it.

Check the coolant level very carefully every day for a week, after replacing the hose. The reason why is that the system system opens and closes at different temps so it's not always possible to bleed every part of the circuit whilst the engine is cold.

why did it blow the headgasket before ?did you replace the thermostat ? if the problem wasnt found when the headgasket was fixed then you still have a problem

The head gasket went before due to the plastic dowels. They replaced the dowels with the stainless type.
I spoke to the guy from the local specialist today who said that part of the hose is prone to go weak as it gets alot of heat!
Hes getting me a hose to fit. I may as well just get him to fit it and bleed the system for me.
I will then keep my eye on it. Ill have the stat changed while im at it as i dont think it was changed when they did the head.

Is there a specific way to bleed the system on these?

I have read on here before that the pipe can go weak. Fingers crossed!

Have fitted the new hose and have bled the air out of the system at different temperatures. Still cracking the bleed screw every now and then just incase there is still some air in the system.
