more likely last time everything went smoothly this time ya brain was fried by the heat.. I find a Sliding Tee bar works best,. Put a little PTFE tape on the filler before you refit it and don't over tighten it. As for Diff plugs take Plastic plug to any Plumber's merchants & he'll will sell you either Male iron blanking plug. Which will have a square head on it Or a Brass Flanged nut. fit a fibre copper or rubber washer to it and Bob's ya Mothers brother...

Especially if you drive with hand brake siezed or dicky wheel brake cylinders
