Got braided brake hoses to replace my perished plastic brake hoses, my local garage said £50 to fit then and bleed them or do i roll around out in the cold and do it myself i cant decide :/
Feck it, its cold outside and its on my todo list, hes a nice guy so sure he will let me hang about n watch and or help. Worth paying the £50 to learn how to do it properly, and having the job done right! plus it will probably take them1/10th the time would take me
If the £50 includes the fluid that's a good price. £60 including VAT?
LOL VAT?nono "vat" includedYeah including fluid
i wouldnt bother braided hoses mean you cant clamp pipe off ,making bleeding easier in any future workGot braided brake hoses to replace my perished plastic brake hoses, my local garage said £50 to fit then and bleed them or do i roll around out in the cold and do it myself i cant decide :/
When I changed my fronts both unions snapped and had to make up new ends! OK if you've got the pipe flaring tools etc, but disastrous if you havent.
Its your call.

yes if you need longer they are an easy fix ,a good bit of the improvement will be the fact youve bled them and put some fresh fluid in caliper ,id much rather see more money spent on discs pads and calipers etc the amount i come across with seized pistons etc but with shiny hosesYes JM that's a valid point, but they improve braking SO much and are sometimes required for longer travel suspension systems I would say they are worth it.
For that reason though I have some little rubber caps in the toolbox and I cable tie them round the threaded end to cap the hose!
I spent £18 on an eezibleed & £18 on 5 litres of brake fluid from halfords (it was £12 for 1 litre so it made sense too buy the 5L as I had fitted new hoses and wanted to replenish the whole system) so thats £36 already... my brakes were crappy before I put the new braided hoses on and was hoping the new ones would improve the pedal and get rid of the pedal creep .... after bleeding the whole system about 7 times and using about 3 litres of fluid (I wanted to make sure all the air was out) I have now got a reasonable pedal ... so for the sake of £14 and not freezing ya balls off with wet hands it makes sense to pay the man as long as there are no hidden costsBooked in for next next monday morning![]()
