After a lot of messing with the cooling system my overheating problem turned out to be the head gasket, so my task is to change it.

Looking at RAVE is useful but not always the best way I have found. Could anyone break down the steps I need to remove and refit?

Vehicle? Classic, P38, L322, Sherman Tank, petrol, diesel?

Go look at your other thread. To remove the head, follow RAVE.

if you undo all the bolts the head will lift off

Thanks to n18rks for the info, it was detailed instructions on someone changing a V8, great pictures too. Here is the link to part 1 - Engine Refresh (top end) PaulP38A.com

Anyone have anything similar for a diesel head gasket change would be great!

I'm just looking at what I need to order to make sure I cover everything when I am changing my head gasket. So far the list is:

- STC2012 - Block gasket set
- STC2031 - Head gasket
- LDY000040 - Head bolts

Not sure about brands, Elring any good? Any advice much appreciated.
