sorry to drag up an old thread but what would be best for my 80k td4?
gm dexos 2 5w-30 fully synth or halfords 5w-30 semi synth ford spec?
can get both at the same price (20 quidish for 5l) so its not down to price so what do you oil guru's recommend?

I wouldn't dream of using anything other than fully synthetic - even if it was more expensive - which it usually is.
Dont forget that Halfords Trade Card is a very handy thing to have - gets you anything from 15 to 40% off.
Thanks mate, got a trade card but can get the gm dexos2 for 19 quid for 5l which is about a tenner cheaper than the halfords fully synth on the old trade card

That's bloody cheap for 5 litres.
That's even cheaper per litre than Tesco's fully synth which is £20 for 4 litres - but the 8 litres you need for the change costs £40 minus the Tesco £6 off for spending £40 makes it only £34 for the 8.

your maths is fine.... just wondering where you get your £6 off though?
anyhows, just found the gm stuff for 17.50 a tub, but had to buy four!! so got enough for the next 3 oil changes!!
