Have fitted new shocks to a defender 90 and was wondering how you guys hold the shock so it doesn't spin when tightening to the required talk settings?
Have looked at oil filter ratchets but they all seem to be chains and don't want to damage the shock

What about wrapping a couple of rags around it and using mole grips

There should be a small flat section on the end of the thread that you can put an open jaw spanner or mole grips on.

Failing that a couple of rags as Wolf said and grip them with plumbers grips

Use a nylon strap filter wrench instead of a chain type one.

cheers for the replies will have a look see if theres a flat section didnt notice one when put them into place but might just be missing it if not will try what you guys suggested

air guns or even better battery guns are perfect for such jobs
