Did my second trial today in the series and had a great run,even got my first clear section
The day went well and we managed to do 4 sections before dinner without no problems,a quick break with a few pots of tea and a couple of burgers and we were ready to go again.
All was going good until the last section and then disaster...... giving it some welly up a short steep section the front end soared into the air about 3 foot and came down with a crunch followed by a loud clonk and vibration. This is where it gets interesting because i thought i'd blown another diff but i was wrong
When i took a look underneath i saw this!



We removed the rear prop and the handbrake drum and rear flange came off with it!!!





In 20 years of owning landys ive never broken a rear output shaft in the transfer box,but "there's a first time for everything"!

OH that is unlucky. A few of my mates use Roberts conversions in their comp safari motors to put series transfers onto Jag auto boxes and a 4.6 V8 and never broke one like that.
But sounds like you are having fun all the same.

Yeah,having great fun. Luckily it went halfway through the last section so didn't affect my score too much,in fact i came 1st in class! the only problem was how to bodge it to drive the 20 miles home.
So with the aid of a coke can,some old rag (to bung the hole in the rear flange) a cane from one of the sections and a bit of rope and a bungee cord it was fixed enough to drive home.

Is that a 'get you home' fix then, or are you thinking of selling kits of them?
