First off. Hi all. Landy newbie here. Had my defender for a few months now and am loving it. But I have found that the thermostat has been taking out. I now have one but have a stupid question. What way in does it go?

bulb towards engine ot in 2.5 na or 2.5 td ot 200tdi pointint downwards

An old post I know but on searching I have a similar issue but couldn't understand the reply - Could you elaborate please?

The Thermostat given to me by supplier will only seem to "fit" upside down which I've not seen before and the old one is missing. I have an 88 19j engine.

Ah - When I undid bolts for thermo housing it split first from the housing to the cylinder head - On further inspection and a little tap I see the housing splits and thermo should fit conventionally in there (bulb downwards)

job sorted then careful when tightening the 3 bolts back up
