Hi all 1986 def 90 2.5 n/a, seen all the threads on dickie headlights and hasn't really helped. Situation is, no dipped beam on drivers side but full beem it works. last time it happened I put a larger new fuse in and worked fine lol till now about 2 weeks later. Checked relay and fuses both ok. My fuse-board and the wiring in my 90 is bodged to say the least!! Anyway, would it be earthing somwhere from the bulkhead/fuse box to the headlight it self? and is there a normal area where they go or am I gana have to follow the wires along to headlight and hopfuly see somthing? Cheers

Am i right in saying it can't be earthing out somwhere otherwise it would be blowing fuses??

If a libe wire of a fused circuit touches ground (earth the fuse will pop a non fused circuit if u have one the wiring would over heat and poss catch fire.
If your main high beam is ok so is the lamps/bulbs earth connection.
Have you checked there is a dipped live at the bulbs socket and the socket is making contact with the bulb, u may have an iffy bulb so try a replacement if you have't already.

Ok so that's the earths ruled out? Have not checked the live at the bulb end yet. Will test and check a different bulb if its live. Thanks

Im not sure was sorta asking at same time haha! Yeh I'll get multi meter out later and go through everything. Well I now have no clutch either so headlights can wait for the time being!! haha

It's not going to be earth if the main beam is working, as there is one ground for dipped and main.

the first thing i'd check is the bullet connectors. I had right fun and games with mine when I got it, I'm considering upgrading the connectors on mine to the later type -

multi meter is definitely the way forward. I got a fairly cheap one off ebay for not very much, which is working fine
