Ok so as some of you may know from my leaking fuel injector pump thread I recently UP/DOWN? graded from the Disco TD5.

The problems begin ;-)
actually not many so far, my epsom green 38 comes with 170k on the BMW 2.5
and spring converted (coz the Td5 bled me dry) it has the hot start fix but not sure if its chipped.
Cue... Q1 how do I find out/ what do I look for?
It comes with 3 original keys, No.1 works fine, other two work mechanically but fob (after adding new bats to both) are non responsive, I have tried various sync techniques but to no avail, while in the ignition the key led flashes but buttons not working.
I have the EKA and it works.

Cue... Q2 can anyone help?
The 38 is a 98 Dt with 19" 5v spoke, wrap bullbar and roofrails (which I may shelve til req) unwanted drag, mpg n all that

2 new tyres going on on Monday and hopefull remedy a strange feeling in the front end, seems to lurch to the N/S if i hit a bump, pothole/drain cover.
not badly but tyres are worn and 2 new accelera came with it.

Big wheels on the P38 are always going to make it nervous. Do a search on tramlining.
When you push the buttons on your fobs do the LED's flash? As the LED's flash when put in the ignition, you have the later type where re-syncing should be easy. Could just be the buttons not working if the pads are knackered.
As for chipping, look for a little box near the FIP plugged into the FIP loom. Otherwise it might be a soldered in job in the ECU. If you think it accelerates well it's chipped LOL.

Thanks for the info. I have to admit I really like those wheel but 19 is a costly size on tyres I'll see how it fairs after the front two are changed in the morning, I had a read up on the tramlining and not sure if this is what I am experiencing or not I certainly get the from the wifes V6 cougar but the 38 just gives a brief kick/lurch to the left from time to time when going over a bump, Pressures at 30 all round when I got it and I just read in the book 28F and 38R, Is this the best set up or does it vary on size and brand (255/55/19 at moment)

The spare fobs are in need of new buttons but when pressed with a pen tip they both light up but cant get them to sync.

Not looked around for evidence of chipping yet but it does perform reasonably well from speed but not too sure of acceleration from standstill

I wouldn't know about 19" rims but haven driven on both 16 & 18's I can say that there is a definite difference as the size goes up. I run 26 & 36 on 18's but Datatek swears by 28 all round when not towing or stuffed to the roof with booze.

Well worth getting under the front and checking all bearings / bushes etc. just to make sure you haven't got a bigger issue.

Well I'm off out right after my coffee to get the front two changed, I'll see how it goes at 28 on the local roads, I do regularly carry heavy goods ( Not booze tho, make my own ;-) ) so will keep the rears above 30

What happend with your pump full refurb, leaking injector pipe or seal?

It's booked in Wed at Johnstone and Drynan, Kilmarnock. So no bad news yet, I'm still using it at the moment as the leak appears to be minimal.

Tyres now fitted and feeling better.

More issues to follow ;-)

Well good luck on wednesday . Just remember if it's injector pipe or alternator side bottom seal, pump can stay in. If others then pump out .if pump is running well good idle,and while on the move then full refurb unlikely , but they do recommend while its out might as well do the others,They will be getting old too,as always its to do with what's in your wallet . If you do go for the full refurb then next time you look at your pump it will,should look shiny and newish around its body as it should of gone through a vacume blast machine to clean it up inside and out .Always explain what your hoping for as in most cases they will just go for the full refurb, once again gl.

Thanks, yes it is running well, it looks as though it is leaking from where the pipes tighten in, but hard to say because of previous owners silicone attempt.
