After a relatively trouble-free two year (30K miles) P38 driving stint, I'm going to take three or four months off, this is what P38s hate, occasional use (perhaps twice a week) and sometimes not getting fully up to temp when it is used. What will break first? I have the new RF receiver so at least that won't be a problem.

Battery, the crap will build up on the plates. Try a long run if you can to keep it conditioned.

Give to me I'll keep it running for you,stiff brake pistons or hand brake cable en shoes, cobwebs, a noisy cam as the oil works its way up, central locking stiff bird **** tree sap all over it flat squigey tyres is that enough for you

I left mine for 7 months oct to april never touched it came back recharged battery started first time only thing that took a couple of tries was the aircon had to cycle through a couple of times to free blend motors

Alot of the time mine sits around doing nothing, can be like that for weeks and it's been like that for the last 9 months. When it does get used it's lucky if it does 30 miles. Fortunately I don't have to lock it so I don't get any drain from the alarm. I think the key is to make sure that everythings in tip top condition, battery, air bags etc.
Don't worry about leaving it there fairly robust.

I laid mine up for a year and had someone to start it and run for 15 min each month untill the battery packed up about 9 months in but ordered a new battery had it fitted and it started first time.
Filled it up with fuel and have run it for about 15000miles in the last six months and now stuck in Mongolia because the Chinese government has pulled the permission to enter China for the 7 vehicles that have been organised for 1 year.so the 6 Motor bikes have to be Air freighted to Bankok while i have to come back overland and get some more Visas organised.
oh and the diagnostics are working properly again it was the 5 amp fuse blown thanks for whoever suggested that
