thanks for the replys, i have used the testbook on my 2.5 dhse and have no problem on that car which i think eliminates a problem with the t4, i have the pin out information for the dlc, would i be correct is saying the other end of those wires are in connector c225 under the becm fuse box
 
problem now sorted! did away with the white connector behind the drivers side kick panel and solder spliced the wires together sealed them with heatshrink tubing, repaired splices on red and pink wires and on the light green and yellow wires, checked 12v and both ground wires, continuity was good from all dlc pins to there corresponding "other ends" but i still had no connection, i then used a diagnostic plug from an old obd scanner and when i tried the continuity i found i had 2 open circuits, pin 7 and pin 15, cut a diagostic port off a late p38 and spliced it to my loom and testbook went straight in, thanks to all who posted there advise to me
 
hi all, just an update, car starting and running really well now, just a problem with the distribution door in the heater sticking, will look at that when i have time, also bought multipoint gas system for it, its got single point at moment which looks past its sell by date, the multipoint was taken off a friends 4.6 that had been written off through vandalism, i had all the under bonnet parts plus the drilled inlet manifold for £60, and will be using my own tank, its a bigas system and i have purchased the diagnostic lead and software to set it up, i have also bought a rovercom touch screen unit and if i can be of assistance to other p38 owners in north wales area feel free to contact me
 
Hi all, hoping someone out there may be able to help, I lent my testbook 4 mobile kit to a guy who was having non starting issues with his p38 and he has returned it with the software disc damaged, apparently his young son ejected it took it outside and the pet jack Russell took a fancy to it, I'm hoping someone out there could help me out with a copy I would be extremely grateful , he was as gutted as me but accidents happen and he's been very good to me in the past lending me the kit to extract and replace my ball joints
