Anyone know how to do a temporary hot start fix
im sat in ****ing rain and the biatch wont start
fired first turn this morning and ran fine untill I turned off then under a minute later went to start and she wont fire just cranked now battery starting to go
Did it the otherday but I just left it for a few hours and then she started

Sorted
waited about an hour with bonnet open plus was raining so cooled alittle quicker
turned key glow plugs came on and she fired second rotation (good thing too cos if it dint start it wouldnt make a third)
strainge thing I drove home, about 5 miles pulled into drive temp just about 12 o'clock turned off and restarted, fired on about 3rd turn

What resistor does it need and were is the temp sensor?ie.witch wire do I cut into?
Ive got a timed relay already so see no point in spending £30 on another

If you have a hot start on disconnect it, maybe it is duff. Try fitting a new ECU temp sensor. The engine should not get hot enough to stop glow operation after a minutes running. Don't know who mentioned it but don't be sticking resistors in the ECU temp sensor circuit. That is all an hot start does, but it switches off after 30 seconds.

No I haven't got a hot start fitted at the moment I bought a adjustable timed relay for somthing else but never used it so thought it would work perfectly if I added a resistor
and the car was running for about half an hour this morning it was shut off for a minute then wouldent restart

Ok misunderstood. Don't know what value of resistor you need but is not the way forwards. Get it on diag and check timing modulation if it's high get pump static timed. Static timing is critical to hot starting. Retarded static timing with no lift on cam means the delivery port is shut for hot starts.

It dont do it every time so not sure if it is the problem so the switch would be ideal as I could press it only if it dont start! as it becomes more common to need it, I will look into having timing adjusted
so im I right that if its only to start I dont need a resistor? Just break the circuit?

If the sensor goes down a preset of 50 degrees is used by the ECU. So if the switch the lad fitted breaks the circuit and the ECU reverts to a 50 degree preset, then i would assume the glow plugs and cold start fuel will be set at that temperature on start up. Not the way i would go to be honest. Get it working properly bodges are not my style.
