Well having suffered for about 6 years with poor cold starting and finally got to the end of my patience with getting pitying looks from the neighbours.
I decided to try the sensor by pass as posted on this site. I sourced a 10k ohm resistor from an old stereo that was in my trailer waiting to go to the tip. Then, with some scepticism, given the incredibly dire starting situation and the simplicity of this "fix", I took off the extemely fragile connector (a job for later, thank you Land Rover!), turned the key and , it started immediately!! I was completely amazed. I will be doing the permanent installation very soon.
I cannot remember who came up with this, but, you know who you are, I'm sure, so thank you, you have my admiration and gratitude sir.

What Disco and which temp sensor are you speaking about?

300tdi, sensor on top of head, towards rear.
