Well my radiator is not too happy at the bottom so I was thinking of replacing it so that I can be sure it'll last a while longer. Ones to fit the 2.5td that is currently in seem to be more expensive than the rads to fit tdi's. So I was wondering if its a straight swap, if not what modifications do i have to do? Or is it just a silly idea and I should get the correct one?

tdi rad doesnt fit across the front as has inter cooler beside it ,try getting yours mended at local rad place ,i usually pay £100-£130

Mine was a 2.5TD now converted to 200TDI using a 200 rad and intercooler not sure if you need or could use an intercooler as mine was already converted to 200TDI before I bought it but yesterday I removed the radiator and intercooler to do the timing belt and other stuff so if you like I can take pic's for you of where the rad fits, but knowing it had been converted I couldn't see that anything had been moded just saw holes where the other rad / rad holder had been and presumed that everything must have been there to fit the 200TDI rad cage as all the bolt holes was threaded :)

You need the full width radiator with that, not a Tdi one, plenty of heat needs to be lost with these :D

Like James says, you can often get them fixed. If not a good second hand one might be an option. There are often 19j bits posted on here.

try and find a v8 rad.... its full width with oil cooler connections... I've gone the other way and mated my 300 tdi to a v8 rad as its full width and safer... intercooler will be elsewhere

cheers steve

Okay so its either a case of fixing the current one, a replacement original or v8. May be a silly question but is the oil cooler and inter cooler integrated into one unit for the 2.5td?

theres no inter cooler with a 2.5td oil cooler is integral though

Oil cooler is in the RAD.. not the intercooler (not that a td has an intercooler. )

With the v8 Rad, will it have to be a defender one or a disco one? Its just there's a couple on ebay and they both look a bit different

Thanks
