Spot on.2011 on sw's were reclassified as n1 , so will be £220 same as a hard top. I think it was something to do with changing the load carrying capacity

It's not the government, it's how Land Rover classed their own vehicles. I may be wrong on this but I think by classifying them as commercials rather than M1 vehicles, it was a way around various pieces of legislation that cover passenger vehicles that the Defender couldn't hope to meet in its current form.
