Hi guys, It seems my park switch is on the blink, so I need to whip the wiper motor out and perform some checks. It's stuck away on the extreme left behind the dashboard. Question is, am I going to have to take the whole dash out to be able to remove the motor or is there a less drastic way of gaining access? cheers, LL

I wish. I've taken that part off already and all I can see is the very bottom of the motor which is still tucked away behind the main dash...

Really? Sounds like someones been messing with it then!

My 200tdi is all in the end panel, as was a TD5 bulkhead I got (still to be fitted :D )

I don't think it's been messed with; all looks entirely original from what I can see. Perhaps this model year (2003 - which I should have stated) has a different layout.

Could well be then - I always assumed the end bit coming off was designed for access to the wiper!

I think the TD5 mine was off was 1999

On my 2000 simply a matter if removing the grab handle and the four screws surrounding the speaker part of the dash, that part of the lower dash comes off remove speaker cables, the motor is then easily accessible.

It's not "easily accessible" at all - in fact it's barely visible. I took a couple of photos, see for yourself: http://www.landyzone.co.uk/photopost/uploads/91888/dash-in-way1.jpg

I've got a TD5 from 2006 and yes you do have to take most of the dash apart to change the wiper motor. Yes, it sounds fiddly but just do it in a logical order and keep all the screws somewhere so that you can find them again because there are a lot of different sizes. As I remember it's end panels off, top panel off, centre console and instrument cluster off, then the shelf piece can come off and then you've got access to the motor. Once it's exposed you'll have to take the cover off the motor gearbox to detach the rack rod that works the wipers (assuming you're not changing that as well).

Thanks for that; I was beginning to think I was going nuts there for a minute! BTW, the pictures I posted actually make it look like it's just about possible to get the motor out as it stands, but if you could see it in reality it's a different story.
