found out why i have power issues my intercooler has to much oil in it hence the smoke some times (lots) just washed out the intercooler and loads of oil came out,the turbo blades seem nice and free with very little play on the shaft but i cant see why theres so much oil in there
Does anyone understand this turbo?

The oil may be coming from the engine breather. With the engine running take the pipe off and see if you have oil mist being drawn through the turbo into the intercooler.

Sounds like your turbo oil seal may leaking into the compressor side of the turbo and then into your intercooler. If it was leaking into the exhaust side of the turbo you would have lots of smoke all of the time. How old is the engine and how many miles has it done?

I've been told by more than one mechanic that 80k miles is about when you should start to expect turbo problems. Of course there will always be somebody with a million miles on their turbo and I killed a brand new one in less than 300 miles.
If you're sure the oil is not coming from the breather then the only other place is the turbo bearing seal.

is that possible a local just told me they cant be diy job is this right? i hope not as i would rather replace a seal than a turbo
