Hi all

Fitting a tow bar to my TD5 but i have not got any bolts for it where it goes into the rear cross member. does any one know the length and thread required??

Not sure how much this will help, but...

Use any bolt that will fit, i don't think the bolt holes are threaded into the chassis.

HOWEVER... I would recommend grade 8.8 hardened steel, and the largest ones you can get through the holes.

If it is just the ball that you are bolting to the rear cross member, then any place that sells towing stuff should have them the right size and long enough to go right through the chassis, with nuts to fit.
 
The length needs to be at least the thickness of the tow bracket plus the depth of the captive nut plus 5mm or so. Use hardened bolts if you can get them.
A TD5 will have a metric thread so just find any old bolt that fits to give you an idea of the thread before you go shopping.
Once you know what it is then run a tap through the holes to clean them up and use some grease when you put the real bolts in.
