Hi all,

Chasing a slight drop in MPG and have noticed the temp gauge doesn't go right to the middle anymore, so suspect thermostat is stuck open. All the threads on here say you have to take off the viscous fan to swap the thermostat, but has anyone done it without?

the fan is fairly easy to remove as long as you have the right size spanner i ground out a 19mm to the right size works a treat just give it a shock with a sharp hammer hit and youll be supprised how easy it is

Great stuff. I take it you mean that you ground the spanner thinner to make it fit. Also, is the nut a right or left-hand thread?

Yes, the viscous fan tool is worth having and makes things a lot easier. You can get at the thermostat with the fan in situ, but it is a lot easier to do so with it out of the way. Maybe that's another thing to check. Has the fan locked up?

Well, it spins with a slight drag. Is this right? I never checked it while all was well.
