I had the understanding that ECU doesnt let the components work until the fault codes have been cleared, no matter if the part has been replaced or not.

The dealer is a bitch here, veryyyyyyyy expensive and dont know jack about it! About any land rover product. Thats why i dont go to them mostly. And I am sure they will never clear it free of cost even if I tell them that they dont know jack! I've had so many arguments with them in the past!

No. The fault codes are logged but if there is no problem with a sensor then the ECU works as normal and does not revert to a reduced performance setting.
Land Rovers are not the only cars to have AAP sensors so they must be crap at servicing any car with an electronic control unit.
I'd suggest finding a new dealer or saving the money you would have spent at the dealers and buy an interface program for your laptop.
It will allow you to diagnose and rectify problems as they occur as well as reset your ECU, program key fobs, etc.
Once I have the cash I'm going to do the same so as I dont have to rely on friends or garages for diagnostics.

We tend to play around the salisbury plain and Dorset areas. Hopefully we'll have a chip run and a newbies trip in the next few months. You might even be able to tag along for one of our recce's.
