My mate rang earlier, he has sidelights but no main beam or high beam, The high beam will flash when held back but nothing else.

Ive had a look on the net and my guess would be the headlight stalk, i read they can melt or get crap in the connectors?

Others suggest a dodgy earth but if he can hold the flash on and the high beam works when held surely then its not an earth problem..

Its a Y reg td5..

Thanks

I'd say stalk mate, Brother had the exact same problem.
I checked it by taking the steering cowl off and using a piece of wire to short 12v across the switch (effectively eliminating it) headlights came on.
Had a spare stalk in the shed, Changed it and away he went.

Similar on mine, changed the switch (stalk) and all sorted until recently.....

Now occasionally have no dipped beam until I pull the main beam flash and it comes back on!!

F#ck all help I know but I guess its one or the other - job the another day!!

Neew stalk for lights fitted. New fuses new bulbs and earth's checked... No lights still. Where to check next?
