I would for interest sake like to know the mileages of a TD5 without rebuilding

I have a Disco2 TD5 22700kms (141000miles) a friend has a 2003 facelift with 276000kms (172000 miles)

Both are running perfectly except mine has had a head recon.

I would be interested to know what you guys and gurls have.

2002 Disco TD5. One owner (me) from new. 139000 almost.

No engine splits. A new flywheel, 3 wheel bearings, starter motor, turbo hoses, injector harness and a few oil seals. Oh and 6 replacement tax disks.

Rear pads & disks got to ~80k miles, front pads & disks to ~110k miles, tyres lasting 70k+ miles (original michelins got to 70k miles, replacement BFG AT's still good at 70k miles).

Couldn't be better really...Best car I've had (which is why I've owned it for almost 7 years and all these miles)!

Body & chassis still in great shape.

33 ish MPG most of the time (manual box).

115000 miles on my 1999 TD5 auto. Had 40000 on it when I bought it in 2003. Needed a head gasket under dealer's warranty after 6 months, and had to replace head at 102000 (cracked exhaust port). The heads on these seem a bit prone to cracking, but sounds like yours are good! If you do ever need to take them off, e sure to fit new head bolts and METAL (not plastic) locating dowels. Only other major problem on mine was a burst ACE system. ABS sensors just beginning to play up now. Lovely car though...

2000My TD5 Auto with 202,500km on the clock. 10km/l consumption. Things I've done or had done are:
Cruise Control fitted.
Head gasket due to over heating - leaking radiator
front discs and pads
fuel pressure regulator - slight weep
PAS pipe leak
regular servicing
A great car which I hope will run for long time yet. No rust at all thanks to South African weather!!

Got my 2001 Td5 about 18 mths ago with 166K on the clock (no history but owned by a printing company and the driver assured me it was well looked after - time has proved him right)
I have since fitted a new rad and a complete clutch kit incl DM flywheel .
Now has 186 K up and is running beautifully - long may it continue .
Last week I replaced the complete wiper linkage and should have done that when I first got it as the wipers were always noisy - now completely silent .
I do all my own repairs and get all the parts from Famous Four/Craddocks/Paddocks and in fairness prices are very competitive - even allowing for the carriage costs to ROI . I got a few prices from the local main dlr at first but don't even bother with them now their prices are so sky high .

This is a great thread and a joy to read amongst the doom and gloom of some of the other. Had a 300tdi at 145k miles with little bother and now have a td5 at only 47k. As I do about 25k a year, I will come back to this thread in 4 yrs time and hopefully be singing the praises too.

Come to think of it mine's had a new rad as well - maybe that's a weakness of the model. Or maybe it's just something everbody replaces, and we do more miles than most people after all. Wheel sensors still playing up on mine though - got rid of the dreaded three amigos this week, but still got ABS and TC lights coming on from time to time. I think that in the end it's the electrics that will be the biggest limiting factor.
Just having to get rid of the Astra - ultra low mileage and a year younger than the Landie, but all its elecrics seem to be going at once. No staying power (and no aircon or radio and the windows won't close!)
