My local garage has had my 2000 TD5 for 3 days:mad: fitting a fuel pressure regulator. I went last night having got sick of it to find they hed fitted the new regulator but the fuel leak is now worse Pi**in out. No mention of them re doing it and they havn't charged me:) but now i'm stuck with the car on the drive waitin for me to have a go and rip my fat hands in the engine bay:mad:.
Any tips would be greatly appreciated:D

Apparently there are three different fuel pressure regulators depending on model year. Could they have fitted the wrong one? I also read a post on Uk land over forums

Land Rover Discovery - Land Rover UK Forums

where a guy had one fitted and that also leaked. It turned out the new one was faulty so he returned it and fitted another, which sorted it.

The thread was pretty recent, in the last 4 weeks probably.

They can also leak at the fuel cooler.

Cheers

Andy

Thanks for that. I bought the regulator from land rover having given the vin number in order to get the right one. It is slightly different to the old one with a flat area at the top of the regulator. Deffinately leaking at this point as the leak is now worse with the new reg.

maybe stating the obvious but did they fit a new gasket !!
did mine myself, bit fidely with big hands but nice and steady and no real problems....

Yes they did fit a new gasket. A genuine thanks for all responses. A little miffed from gettin it in the neck for sellin her indoors Paj. Ah well ce la vie

Hi,

I have an 03 td5 that has been through 2 FPRs and now two in tank fuel pumps. Absolute piece o ****e owning a td5 so far. Other than general wear and tear my 94 tdi 300 has done 200k and not many problems. i have not been able to do 2k in this thing they call "storm". I think the storm is what the customer gets after. grumble grumble grumble.

Ha ha. Taken mine to an independant who apparently know their stuff when it comes to all things Landy. Hope it gets better though, the grief from her indoors doesn't bear thinkin about after selling her paj from under her nose. 2 years with that thing and only had services and tyres and did 20k plus all over England. Bit expensive on the old juice like so am hoping the TD5 will be better in that respect. Although it's bound to be if it's always being fixed.

Maybe not so good on the juice. TD5 of mine 21 mpg Tdi of mine 33 mpg. I must say though that it has not run right since buying the bastard and when I do the EGR and pie etc I am sure it will improve. it is still no match for the tdi though but the 5 is way faster and civilised. Shame it does not work....Bugger. The 5 has been to main dealers and godd indies but still lost as to the cause. Maybe a Friday afternoon job by Land Rover. I must look on the bright side though....... I may now have to just get a TDv6 to get over it. Ha Ha Ha

SORTED. Crap new Land Rover Fuel Pressure regulator. Second one fitted and no leak. Hallelujah. Thank you all. Thank you Maltings you are the best.
