Hi just a quick 1, I've gone to remove the full egr system on my td5 but this 1 has a cooler fitted with it being an 02. My last 1 didn't so that's why I'm confused. I want to take the lot off instead of just blanking it off, can I re-route the pipes? The bottom pipe on the cooler could I connect that straight to the header tank and get rid of the top hose? I've done a search but to no avail. Thanks

When I took my EGR out the cooler stayed, just blanket the end of the cooler of.

Its not straight forward getting rid of the cooler, and pipes. Your best off just putting your blanking plate over the bottom end of the cooler, and ditching the valve and short bendy pipe.

Be VERY carefull of the rigid plastic pipe that comes off the top of the cooler and returns to the header tank. It becomes VERY brittle and will easily break. In fact, my advise would be to replace it with a length of rubber hose, as it WILL braek at some point and could leave you high and dry.

Right so I can get rid of the valve but leave the cooler in place but just blank it off before the metal flexy pipe?

Thats it !. Dont make it any more difficult than that.

Keep the bits you take off just in case you might need them again. ( you never know what might happen in the future with the MOT test ).

thanks mate. and regarding new MOT rules i work as a mechanic at a testing station and from january and failable from april theres loads and loads more testable items, weve just been sent a machine that tests tow bar elecrtrics and if some lights dont work its a fail, so are engine management lights that are on. so much more coming into an MOT. its a joke
