i sold my disco last week, the guy that bought it drove it home to Blackpool, when he got home the gears were not right!
now prior to this i posted on here numerous times about the clutch i had fitted,
he has had the car taken apart and the garage has said that the clutch plate has been fitted wrong, didn't think the cross member had been removed, no new spigot bearing, no new release bearing, and flywheel knacked!
 
oh when i got my car back from the garage i drove it 17 miles home, did another 15 mile journey 1 week later couldn't get gear stick back into neutral, so i put a new pinion bush in and gearbox top gaiter on, then i sold it, as i thought it had all been done right, cause i don't have a need for it as i have got another younger disco,
basically the car hasn't done 100 mile, and it is worse than ever

you cant just push it back but you dont need to remove box from under vehicle completely ,just easier as clutch cover sits on studs and nut can be tricky as well as removing
 
that's what has been done then, i supplied the 4 piece genuine land rover clutch, they have put a cheap sh-t clutch plate in only, nipped a wire, they also trapped heater matrix pipe at the back of the bulkhead, and well if they didn't split it ,they wouldn't know what flywheel was like!
probably sold my parts on!!!

i sold the car as i thought it was right, it has had everything it ever needed,
but these lot have ripped me off, will have to make a claim against them now and re emberse the new owner!

If I get you right, are you sayin they just slid box back far enough, to perform keyhole surgery on the clutch plate only. Went to the bother of fitting a cheap ****ty clutch plate they had lying about, and sold your OEM clutch plate on?
What was included in your 4 piece genuine land rover clutch?
 
Well thats a few quids worth.

If they don't repair it, I would think your goin to have to get an independent to report on wither parts fitted are new, or not.

it has happened at another location, but the garage that has taken it apart services all the police and ambulance vehicles,
so i think this will cast a good opinion!
 
ive done many clutches on discos and defenders. i would say you cant just slide the box back to get the clutch out on a Defender but it may be possible on a Disco . and they put in whatever junk clutch they had and thought it would last long enough to get away with it
 
update!
got report from new garage today, how do i stand?
the original bill from landrover specialists garage that fitted (lol) 4 piece clutch that i supplied(no they didn't) came to £488.40
new bill today is £1100 with vat,
they have had to the warm bolts on cross member to get it off, they have fitted new dual mass, pressure plate, clutch plate, release bearing and spigot all genuine landrover
they did engine mounts as they were in that area,
bled it up and it is unbelievable the difference, like a new one,
the parts the 1st garage fitted are not what i supplied(genuine)
so do i ask them to reimburse me for some of new cost?
