Hi guys,

new to this forum and I am seeking some help, I have a disco TD5 (2002) and every time I start it I get a rattle through my brake peddle, I am sure I read somewhere else this is a symton of a bigger problem - can anyone help.

Hmm, I get something like this, a graunchy noise when starting (just after the engine kicks in?). Done it from new, and not become a problem in 110k miles! Assume it's something to do with ABS. I do notice that if I turn the key to normal running position and wait for the self-test lights to go out before starting then it doesn't always happen... If I turn straight to start without pausing for the warning lights to go out, it always happens. Is this the same thing?

Very likely just the ABS check that you are hearing - this happens every time the car is started. Sometimes is sounds like a crunching noise, on one car I had, it sounded like a plastic ruler held off the end of a table and pinged!

I will try the trick of letting the lights go out first see if that helps

mine does it too, its the SELF CHECK mode for the ABS, seems a primative check, but its the check none the less. nowt to worry about
