Hi to all,

New to the forum, but on my 2nd disco. The first one with aircon, and a bit troubled by what I've now found out to be the AC condensing fan at the front of the radiator. After a few weeks of ownership I've noticed that the fan cuts in as soon as I turn to the first notch on the ignition and I presume it stays on all the time. I can't remember it doing this when I first bought the vehicle. Is something wrong and can I cure it if its a problem?

Regards,

someone may have rewired it to run with the ignition . or they do come on if the coolant temp is high . and they will always come on if the air con switch is on .

U might have to reset the ECM.

The aircon radiator fan should only come on with the aircon switched on and an ambient temperature above 27°C and a speed less than 25kph.

Your fan has come on because the ECU told it to. The ECU has detected a potential overheat situation and so it switches the fan on - un fortunately it stays on all the time after that until it gets turned of by a diagnostic machine.

With Hawkeye it's in the TD5/ECM/Programming/Fan forced assist setting.

Thanks folks, sounds like I need an agent with the electronic gear for this one. Can I just unplug the AC ststem all together or will this have a knock on with other electrics?

Mine did this in the winter so i just removed the fan fuse from the underbonnet fuse panel.
Then when i got a nanocom i just reset it.
Ask around there must be a local member who could reset it for you.

As above take out just the fan's fuse(F5 - 40A engine bay) and everything will work without it.
