Hi People. I’m new to all this, so please bear with me.
ive just acquired a Freelander 1 td4.
Currently a non-runner as it will only start with the aid of a good squirt of easy start.
Once running it’s fine, no smoke, no warning lights. can anyone point me in the right direction please

I would be checking the fuel pumps, both low and high pressure, and the fuel filter.

Sounds like a camshaft sensor failure.

I'd be inclined to suspect the HP regulator O rings. If those O rings leak the fuel pressure away, then the engine needs to spin fast enough to build sufficient pressure to initiate injection, hence only starting on Easystart.
