Hey everyone, bit of a random question if I may?

Was changing the rear brakes on my 2009 landrover freelander xs td4 auto today, and noticed that in park, with the handbrake off, the reR wheel would spin freely.

The rear prop looks good and tight and I wanted to see if anyone knew if the Haldex was engaged or not when in park?

Threw me off a bit - sorry if a daft question!!!!

Thanks!
J

The Haldex needs battery power to remain engaged, so no, it's not engaged in park, or at all unless there's a difference in rotation speed between the front and rear wheel.

How free is it? There's normally some mild drag across the clutch pack, not much, but definitely not free.

Ah thank you for confirming.

There was some consistent drag resistance which makes sense with what you mentioned - but in my head I was just panicking that the haldex had been damaged in some way! I was expecting it to turn a couple of degrees before locking up like the front wheels :D
