hi my td4 has just dumped all its engine oil all over the road on a journey of 1 mile. There is a massive leak where oil filter assembly is bolted to the block. does anybody know what would cause the seal to go so suddenly and massively when I serviced it two weeks ago there was not a sign of any leakage as the sump guard was spotless.any advice would be welcome

What mileage does your car have? And has the oil depression limiter valve filter (on top of the engine, between the airfilter house and the common rail) ever been replaced ??

Some pics.
Where the filter is located, how a 35.000 kms filter looks like and another one with the location of the filter. Good luck.

Thanks for the info thought it might be that after reading the forums just wanted my thoughts confirmed its done 100k, and fingers crossed everywhere as regards to the state of the engine when leak fixed

Fully agree with Willo. Change the 'depression limiting valve filter' this innocent looking device is a vital part of the awesome TD4 air intake system.

under oil filter is your oil cooler, I'd be checking this first. and change depression limiter valve filter as Willo says.

Thanks guys, it will be repaired this weekend I Will post the end result.Hope my tight budget on servicing hasn't killed the motor. Beware td4 owners change this filter its a must !
