Been doing a bit of work on my 2003 TD4 recently. Replaced the air filter, oil filter and oil, fuel filtet(under rear wheel arch) and crankcase breather filter.

The car had been lying unused for around 4 weeks prior to this, and the battery was flat. Jumped it from my other car, took it 25 miles up to my mates, fitted the oil and air filters, drove home. Next day, wouldn't start. Mate came round, we fitted fuel filter and crankcase breather filter, put everything back together, then tried to start again with a jump from my other car.

Turns over, and over, and over, but will not kick in. Checked everything we can think of, but still will not start. Fuel pump is working fine, can hear it running.

Suspect battery may be the problem, as clock and radio go off when turning over engine. It was lying unused for a month in some very cold weather and had a flat battery before we did the work.

I've left in on the battery charger today and will see how it is tonight, but just thought I'd ask in case you chaps could think of anything obvious we may have caused when changing all the filters?
 
most likely a leaking back injector, give it a spray of easy start and see if it fires, if it does take it for a spin and see if it runs fine, then switch off and see if it will start if not then do a search on leaking injectors
 
Sounds like the cold has killed the battery,they hate the cold and not using the car for so long in the cold has probly killed it!!!!!!,check the volts and amps when at rest and under load.
 
Battery fully charged overnight, still not starting this morning. It ALMOST started, but just missing the final kick.

Looks like I'll have to check for leaky injectors at the weekend.

tap the fuel pump under the bonet on the near side thats normaly the problem it should buzz when the ingnition is on if not the hit it with something untill it does.
 
In fact, that won't work. It's a 2003 car, fuel pump is under wheel arch next to recently replaced fuel filter, and it is working, I can hear it!

Must take a look at injectors now, ruled out everything else. If one of these has a leak, is that enough to prevent it starting? Are they easy to replace? Heard they can be a pain to remove unless engine is warm, and my engine ain't warm!
 
have you tryed useing easy start to see if its fuel related or something else. if it runs on easy start you know its fuel also this might get the fuel up in the lines.

that will burn up your glow plugs, then they will need to be replaced
