Hi

3 days ago my Freelander became hard to start (Hot or Cold).
Took about 30 seconds of cranking to get going. On the 4th day, it stopped starting completely. Engine turns but does not start.
I can hear the fuel pump running in the wheel arch.
If I tow the vehicle, it starts instantly. Have tried to do the leak back test, and with the ignition on, number 1 injector seems to have a small amount of diesel in it. If I crank the engine for about 30 seconds, all the injectors start filling, and number 1 fills up after about 60 seconds.

Please help!!!

Sounds like the synapse re-uptake inhibitor.

I have a similiar starting issue going on at the moment, only my issue is intermittent. Mine fails hot or cold but runs fine once its going.

My car is a TD4 and i am assuming that yours is too.

The garage that i take the car to has suggested that the High Pressure fuel pump is failing and does not built fuel pressure at low speed, IE durring started. They suggested that I try some Easy Start to get it to fire as turn the engine fast enough for the HP pump to work. This is how I have started the car twice today.

I'm going to call them tomorrow for a quote on getting the pump changed.

I'd be looking at injectors, had EXACTLY the same with mine, would start with easy start every time, was a faulty injector causing excessive leak back. do the leak off test 1st before you go to the time and expense of replacing the hp fuel pump.

What OP said.

I get no fuel leaked back from the injectors when mine wont start.

Like has been said its the clasic symptoms of a failing injector. If they come out ok would be worth getting them tested/refurbed first to eliminate them.
